Car model craze in China

At auto shows in China, it's not the sky-high priced luxury cars that attract the visitors, but the models standing by the vehicles.

On the opening day of the Auto Qingdao 2007, visitors flocked around car models, and photographers took numerous pictures of them as they change to various poses in front of the cars. These beautiful showgirls, usually in short and sexy outfits, have quickly become an indispensable part of Chinese car exhibitions for years.
Men are attracted to beautiful women, but what surprises many is how crazy the auto show visitors could be for models. Unless the car is a 10-million-yuan Bentley or Maserati, there won't be big audience around the booth without gorgeous models.
It's rather an exhibition of beauties than cars. "I'm here to see beautiful girls. It would be dull and unattractive if they didn't have models," said a visitor at the Qingdao auto show.

The E-Flex Fuel Cell variant is presented



General Motors (GM) Chairman and CEO Rick Wagoner unveils the E-Flex Fuel Cell variant for the Chevrolet Volt at the Shanghai Auto Show in Shanghai, China, April 20, 2007. This second variant of the E-Flex system uses GM's new fifth-generation fuel cell propulsion technology and a lithium-ion battery to provide up to 300 miles of petroleum and emissions-free electric driving.

Since its first outing in 1985, Auto Shanghai is the earliest international auto show in China. In June 2004, Auto Shanghai became the first UFI approved Chinese auto show. With the development of automotive industries, both in China and internationally, and accumulating experience of 20 years, Auto Shanghai has grown into the most authoritative exhibition in China, and one of the most influential international auto exhibitions.
Auto Shanghai 2005 ended up with tremendous success, with a total exhibition area of 120,000 square meters, attracted 1,036 exhibitors from 26 countries and regions, 5,380 reporters from 1,020 media outlets from 35 countries and regions, as well as 391,593 visitors from 113 countries and regions.
